I have just bought my first Mercedes C180 coupe. I absolutely love it. It is just the base model though which came with steel wheels and wheel trims so I have bought Replica Evolution wheels and it looks great now. My only gripe now is that the car does not sit as low as the SE models. I would like to lower the car to the same height as an SE model. What is the difference in height between the SE and the standard model and can I buy a spring kit from anywhere in the UK to do the job.

Regards,
Derek

Just been looking at your pictures, you car looks really nice and clean. Next time your past the dealers pick up the brochure for the Sport model and it will say how much lower the it is. I guess 15-20mm. There has been quite a lot of discussions on lowering so pls search the forums.
I had a C200cdi out yesterday whilst mine was in for service, it was very nice. I would probably remove or replace the boot badges though. Ebay has loads - do you want it to be a 55 AMG?

Service cost

Blobcat,
just as a matter of interest how much do you pay for servicing. My car is due a service and has 2 spanners showing on the display. I was quoted £220 for the single spanner service and a whopping £370 for the double. This was from my local Merc. dealer. I have just bought the car and need to get it serviced by a Merc. dealer to keep up the years warranty. Is this the going rate or are they taking the ****.

Derek.

I've just paid £220 for an 'A' service on my E320cdi, which is their set rate. 'B' services are around £350+ so your dealer looks to be charging the same as me. On another thread (http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=17212) Philharve has just paid £304 for an 'A' service. Don't think he had anything else done so his hourly rate is a lot higher than ours.

Hi Blobcat

I didn't inquire about the hourly rate. I should have done though. I was quoted GBP160.00 for an 'A' service but was warned by my indie that this is merely the starting point. When you include 'additions' the costs wii rise. I expected a bill of between GBP200.00-250.00. My outturn bill was almost double the quote. The URL you provide list the items in my 'A' service. No member has yet indicated the service items is in any way unusual. HOWEVER, it was mentioned the bill is unusual looking. Not everything is costed.

I was informed by the dealer that a 'B' service was GBP340.00. However, I now realize that this is just the starting point. Look in the driver's manual and it describes what is/isn't included in the service charge. It's a recipe for printing money.
