Hi, everyone :).
This is my first post. I bought a CLA 180 from a dealer less than a week ago (9 August). After just three (3) days, the right brake lamp warning light came on. I took the car back to the dealer yesterday and they replaced the bulb foc. However, the same warning light has come back on again today. Surely, it can't be a coincidence that the bulb has blown twice in the space of three days. Is this a common fault? Is it possible that there is a malfunction with the braking system rather than the bulb? Any help/suggestions/advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Has the bulb actually blown?

I tested brake light this morning but funnily enough the bulb hasn't blown. Also, the warning light has now gone off.
Any ideas why it would have come on in the first place?

It could just be a faulty connection or a false trigger. If the car has sat at the dealers for a long time then there could be damp in areas. A momentary poor connection can trigger the warning.

As above. Check for good contact where the base of the bulb makes contact with the holder ... maybe bend the sprung contact a little. I always give bulbs a blast with silicone spray.
The bulb holder on my R Class had burnt its seat with the cluster a little so needed cleaning up with emery to get a good contact.

Are you sure there is a bulb and it's not LED?

We have changed a few for water getting into them. For some reason it's always right rear?

It's not LED. It's definitely a bulb. There's two bulbs for the right rear brake light. The warning lamp came on again on Saturday, and the inside right bulb of the two is definitely not working now.

Have you checked for corrosion on the bulb holders in the case of water ingress? Especially if its not actually blowing bulbs.

Hi, Alexander
I've contacted the dealership and I'm waiting for them to confirm when they can book the vehicle in. l will be asking them to check for corrosion on the bulb holders as you suggest.
