Road Tax on SLK350 ?

So I’m considering purchasing a friends

Clk350 Elegance Auto
Model Detail	CLK350 7G-Tronic Auto

Registered 2005 - it’s been garaged it’s on a SORN and not been driven since Jan 2022 - although garaged - nearing 78,000 miles

It’s been looked after very well, friend just wants his garage space back so selling very cheap because cannot be bothered with time wasters

Anyway I’m trying to work out the UK Road Tax ?

I’m confused because it states 241 (K) which suggests £710 a year but some sites state £415 ?

Any ideas?

The V5 will confirm the ,grams number and then use the DVLA website to check.
241 is £710 a year....

I thought there was a dispensation for model year 2005 so that road tax should be cheaper?

Looking at the DVLA website for prices https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-registered-on-or-after-1-march-2001
we see that according to the statement

*Includes cars with a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006

A 2005 vehicle is band K if over 225g/km and so is £415 per annum.
Always best to go straight to the horses mouth on this one.

If you know the registration number then by checking whether it has tax on https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax you will also see what emissions/tax band it was last taxed on.

There are some engine number ranges you need to check because of crankshaft problems (might be camshaft ?)

Up to March 05 - which is why my 911 is in the cheaper VED rate

Even if it's on SORN the DVLA page should give you information held about the vehicle e.g.,

I think the new expensive tax came in on April 06.
My CLK was first taxed January 06 so avoided tax increase.
I remember have a discussion with vendor re road tax.

I remember buying an SLK280 new in 2017 and the dealer got the tax wrong. Turned out the road tax varied with what road wheel option you chose.

This used to be the same with Smart cars. £35 for my old one but would have been £105 with the wider wheels.
