I have roof bars for ML and the feet/clamps have lots of rubber padding over the whole contact surface so can be clamped up nice and tight without marking the matt black paint on the ML's roof rails.

But I was looking at roof bars for GLA. They have a steel clamp that comes in direct contact with the GLA's aluminium roof rail. There's no rubber padding at all. Just steel clamp in direct contact to the aluminium rail..

Maybe it's necessary to get a secure connection to the GLA's flush roof rails. But surely that steel clamp must leave a mark, however small, on the brushed aluminium roof rail?

Anyone have experience of of roof bars on GLA? What make/model bars do you have?

Anyone used the Thule Wing Bar 9594? or recommend something?

Pictures?

Thanks guys. :)

I always use these guys https://www.roofbox.co.uk/ and have done for several cars.

My e class has the flush rails and I use the altera bars which have rubber pads on where they contact the bar. Easy to fit and come with a sort of torque Allen key to make sure you fasten them tight enough.

Nothing wrong with Thule, I use them on My W204, no issues, they always have rubber to protect the rails

Look on E-Bay etc as you can pick up second hand kits

You need

Thule Wingbars EVO 118
Thule Flush Rail EVO 710600
Thule Kit 186042

The T-Track system for bike racks etc is excellent, amazingly secure

Once again. Thanks for the info.

In the end I got the original Mercedes OEM bars. £225 direct from MB. Not much more expensive than the Thule bars.

The MB OEM bars are a little higher than the Thule bars. I'd prefer it if they were lower but I guess the height is to make sure any sun roof can flip open? I don't know. I don't have a sun roof.

On the MB OEM bars I like that a torque allenkey to tighten the clamp is integrated into each foot so no separate tool to lose or drop onto the paintwork.
