Hello All, after buying a 2010 SL350, it rained on the way home and my passenger daughter complained water dripped on her from the top of the A-pillar. I wasn't too far from home and was concerned and rather unimpressed at this initial problem. Checking online that a special MB silicon lube may fix the problem, it cost nearly £40- for 30ml. Between showers I found some silicon grease and partially opened the roof, dried the rubber on both sides and smeared a thin film of grease on them. This appeared to fix the problem until I drove the car and water again made ingress in the same place. I researched the MB product and determined I should be able to find an alternative at a lesser cost perhaps without the fancy additives. On e-bay I found some pure silicone oil advertised to use on fishing reels. This was only £4.99 for 30 ml and stated it was pure silicone oil. I've since applied and rubbed this oil into every bit of rubber I can find on the roof and had absolutely no leaks during very heavy rainstorms whether driving or not.
