This may help:
Hi, Didn't see this post...lost amongst the others...thank you so much for this...I was a Rolls-Royce mechanic for many years so am still interested in getting dirty, so this will help enormously.
One problem I do still have is when the roof is down and I want to put things in the boot, the red button to raise the roof slightly is not working. I was looking at all the micro switches but couldn't see one that might relate to this...is there one related to this in the pdf you attached or is it a seperate diagram/circuit altogether? Brgds, Paul

Hi, Finally got round to taking the old girl in to get the roof sorted...told them about your issue and to check broken wire...and hey presto...same thing h=which they went straight to...£120.00 bill...so many thanks for that. :)

Excellent result for you Paul.
Glad I was able to help out on the forum for a change instead of my thread drifts and sarcastics remarks. :D

Just a thought. If the boot lid isn't fully raised, the boot access button won't operate. Make sure you're opening it right up.

Rolls Royce mechanic........Hmmm that's good to know, I still having Rolls/Bentley withdrawal symptoms after I sold my Turbo R. Had an Eight until someone called in and saw the car sitting on my drive and they had to have it, the next morning I came out and it was gone :( Went back inside and went on the internet and bought the Turbo R :D Going to get a Shadow when the wife buys one for me, .............See what I mean, thread drift

However getting back to your stowed boot lifting while in the boot, yes we had a problem like this too with the first r230. Never really found out exactly what the problem was but the soft close never worked either. I was playing around with the boot catch under the lining on the boot lid itself and noticed that the electrical plug wasn't sitting correctly into the socket, after disconnecting it and checking the pins still could't see anything untoward so plugged it back in again and the red light lit. o_O but when I touched the plug it went out. The plug still wasn't sitting squarely in the socket so we cable tied the wiring at the socket which firmed up the plug and it had worked up until the car was sold ;) So did the soft close. Might be another option to check but if your soft close is working may not help you with what we did on our r230.
But as an after thought, we did have an issue with the boot raise (on the same car) while stowed and it became temptermental. My auto electrician took out the micro switch under the load cover (it was clicking) and pulled it to bits, inside was evidence of water/condensation and a small tell tale sign of green furry terminals. He cleaned these up put it back together and hey presto, that too worked until the car was sold. So even if the electric's look okay they can still be the problem.

Bentley Turbo R’s were a turning point where you had proper power for the first time...they used Garrett truck turbos...were huge things.

Will check all the above bits re roof lift switch...and let you know. Thanks Paul
