The roof rack bars from my 1987 300 TE do not fit the roof rails on my new model (1999) 240 estate, rendering my top-box unusable.  The difference is in the profile of the rails which means that the "feet" of the bars do sit securely.

Buying new bars for the model was not a solution as the profile of the bars themselves does not allow them to fit into the recesses on the top-box.  A neat way of Mercedes making more money but is there some way in which I can convert the old bars to fit my new car?

Roof rack

Dieselman,

The problem is in the rack supports or feet that sit on the roof rails; they do not fit the new shape roof rails rendering the whole thing useless.  I would imagine the solution is in some replacement supports but I don't know how or where I can get these.

Any suggestions?
