When inspecting a car for such rot, how can you actually get to see the subframe itself, or is it that you HAVE to remove the undertray to get a proper look? Is the subframe the part that runs under the back of the engine/gearbox area, as I have also seen some rot on a pressed tray that sits under and slightly rearward of the radiator, I'm guessing this area may not be as serious as it seems more accessible and possibly not load bearing?
Does anyone have any photos of what to look for/where to look, maybe even before and after photos for a vehicle that has been corrected?
I know Malcolm, since posting earlier today I did have a long search and although I didn't find pictures for a 210 I did find some for other models which gives me an idea of what to look for and where.
Are these generally repairable, if so in situ? Or is it a case of the whole front end of the car needs pulling apart and a new unit fitting?
This was the main reason I got rid of mine, could get nowhere, then, when the rust started poppin out all over enough was enough.
Still got three drums of new veg oil in garage, even local takeaway wont take them. Replacement car cannot use it.
