Hi, my wife returned from the weekly shop yesterday and found the boot wouldn't open. She said she couldn't shut it at the supermarket because the hook on the lock wouldn't move, however she managed to force it shut. I have tried the key in the boot lock and it turns too easily, with less pressure than it used to, though it still operates the central locking in the car. Any ideas on how to open it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably without a crowbar!

Thanks Alan

Push hard and turn pull hard and turn, then shove the lid to the left and turn and to the right and turn. One of them might just work. Does the rear seat have a ski hatch?

the fuel tank is directly behind the back seats....
it's often cheaper to brake a rear tail light than crowbaring the lid open....

Ah, the lock was broken so your wife forced it closed.....

:)

I don't know what I would do in your situation, except perhaps to buy a new lock and barrel. Drilling the old one one, and destroying the lock, might be an option?

Or you could call on the services of a mobile locksmith?

:-D Thanks Mike , it worked a treat. I heard a click while pushing the lid forward and it lifted. I suppose I need to replace the lock now?

Thanks for the prompt solution. Saved my bacon, and beans etc...
