I just found out I could get SW and LW reception on the radio by pressing AM multiple times. That means I could have listenend to the test match commentary over the previous 100,000 miles but didn't realise.

and also that I can adjust my instrument cluster brightness by twirling the pushbutton. I like it bright, thought I couldn't adjust it, but was pleased with the brightness. I got mine back from the dealers with the light dimmed and remembered I had found out on another car it was adjustable....tried it and it worked.

I've learnt that my car is a little sweety and its more reliable than women. Maybe this is a reflection on the girls I see, though.

I didn't mean to divert this into a Mercedes vs women debate.

But, I can't help to draw comparisons, because I believe I've found a sweety who I'll possibly spend the rest of my life with, in blissful harmony. She brings a warm smile to my face, every day. Even when she's just parked outside. I don't really care about the buttons or the features. There's something about her, built in, thats quality defined. (1990 W124 230TE)

One main difference.

One costs you, even after it's sold/gone

I learnt today that I can actually drive our new car. After being a passenger for nearly two weeks I finally persuaded my other half that I really, really was able to drive it around a deserted car park without damaging it.

I had to pull the seat as far forward as it could possibly go and even then I could only just about see the badge on the front, couldn't really see the bonnet at all though. Maybe I need to sit on a cushion

The only things I found hard were actually finding the accelerator pedal, which I know sounds dappy, but on my Peugeot the pedals were in a totally different place and also that weird way of putting the handbrake on threw me a bit. Would you believe I actually tried to use my hand to push it down, I didn't realise you had to put your foot on it, I mean why call it a hand brake if you use your foot, makes no sense to me.

I even managed after that to drive it home and park it in the drive, although I wasn't able to reverse it in, a 12ft gap is not wide enough for me.

Don't worry about unfamiliarisation with the controls - the foot mounted apply and hand operated release is pretty unusual compared to other cars' parking brakes. Also, the combined stalk on the right is unusual. And the various interlocks on the auto trans which means you need to press the brake pedal to shift.

You'll get used to it.....if your other half gives you a chance!

Mb never refer to it as a handbrake; the parking brake, that is.

Regards your reversing, the parking sensors should help, but use the mirrors as well. :-D

Yeah but bigger ones would slow you down by 0.000001 mph at any given throttle position. Doesn't that make you happier?
