Howdy ho!
Got an S320 (2001) with a nasty noise- when I turn the car hard right the right tyre rubs under the wheel arch and makes a horrendous squeeking noise.

Now it's only done it since I got two tyres replaced. It was the left hand side two, and the new one that was to go on the back went to the front right. I went back to the tyre place and he said it's not their fault but the fact that the tracking must be out. They can't apparently do tracking on the car and it has to go to Mercedes to be done.
Are they speaking any truth? I haven't hit a curb or anything in it so i'm not too sure what it is.

Have you got standard wheels and the correct size tyres?

I have i'm afraid.
Would the tracking take it out so much as to do it do you think?

I agree to get the car properly tracked at MB, but if it was this far out I'm sure you notice it driving, and see some major tyre wear. Can you see where the tyres are contacting the car?

It is at the back of the tyre really. What I did was got the tyres done, then the next time I drove it was a couple of days later for a couple of hundred miles and noticed it when I got into a parking space when I got back
The weird thing is that, half way on the journey it didn't do it when I went into a parking space.

About six months (4,000 miles ago) I had to replace the nearside tyre and it is now that I needed the other one doing- last time it was done the one was dead baldy

There are full lock adjusters, maybe they want setting up, if the tyres are wearing badly it must be tracked.

Don't forget that if the car is only a little bit out, it will do it more on a new tyre than an worn one as it is larger. Stroke your hand over the tread, it should be smooth and the tread should not be feathered.
