Rust and bubbling on trunk area where lock is [97 E320]

I just joined this forum and I saw questions relating to this problem. It was mentioned that there is a 30 year warranty against this problem. It also mentioned "registering". What does all this mean, and do I have any chance of Mercedes fixing my rust and bubbling trunk problem on my 97 E320? I bought the car with 17,000 miles on it; now it has 108,000.
