Rust and Warranty

Just phoned the bodyshop that deals with the Merc claims re Rust for my E-class 1998.

I was told that the warranty is 4 years with a 4 year goodwill, meaning that my car is just outside, registered Oct 13 1998.

Is this the case? Anyone esle find this.

For pre-Oct 98 8 years corrosion warranty was the deal. Find another MB dealer and take it in. Nothing ventured nothing gained

erm, as long as you have it serviced by MB it should be 30 years. However, I'm not sure when they started this. It may be that your car pre-dates the start of this offer but I'm sure others have had work done on cars teh same age as yours.

Yes but when in October, as mine is 13/10/98

I will have a go at another dealer first, but maybe a phone call to MB will clarify things.

I would rather MB pay for it then me thats for sure!!

13 Oct according to the service booklet.

But if the 28th is correct then my car does not have the 30 year warranty.

The thing is the rust will have started well before the end of the 8 years.

I feel a letter to MB coming on.

seems the delivery date to the dealer was 22 Sept.

It was sold to the first owner 13 Oct.

I guess its looking like its not got the 30 year warranty.

Yes delivered to the sdealer on the 22 Sep and sold to the customer on the 13 Oct.

Either way its not the 28th Oct.

I take it then i should assume that im on my own with this one?

I still think that the corrosion clearly will have started prior to last month.

The only way to know for sure is to take it to your dealer, if no joy then try another dealer.
