rust

hi ive got a 1981 sl, i took it into my mates for a long awaited respray when he took the left side headlight out there wasnt much left behind but a bag of rust , the question is do i need a whole new wing as it all seems to be part of the same or as he asked is there a kind of bucket part(plastic?) that sits behind the light as the rest of the wing is sound... hope you understand what im on about..... thanks

means a new wing, should i go for a patient wing £105 or a breakers wing £150 in ok condition, do the patient wings fit well what do you blokes think

I would always go for the gen mb item if available even 2nd hand as the fit will be correct. Its false economy as the money you save will be taken by the extra time the body shop need to get it to fit properly.

yes i think your right but it wasnt the cost its just the breakers wing had a bit of rust on and the patient wing is nice and new but i dont want to p**s off my bodywork fella.
