Hello all,

I have only noticed recently that rear arches are starting to show rust bubbles under the paint layer.

two questions i have are:

1, can I/should I attempt to just put something on it to prevent it from spreading? (waxoil has been mentioned, does it stop the rust from spreading or treats the area as well)

2, Does anyone know of a bodyshop which can deal with this for me at a reasonable cost? This could be a good time for me to go to bodyshop though as i need lower spoiler for front bumper sprayed as well so should get it all done in one go.

Many Thanks

Thanks Mark so best bet is to get the arches to bare metal and then repaired/sprayed?

Once you've got rust in there the only cure is to remove all of it. Covering with Waxoil or similar might slow it down but won't stop it. Have you tried MB?

I dont have MB history and I think the skirts have been resprayed at some stage by someone (possibly not authorized MB sprayer) and quiet certain MB will not touch it

If only people would clean out the mud that collects inside the wheel arch lip, that would help,,this mud up to ½ inch thick can stay wet with damp and salty all winter, it is the prolonged dampness for months that rots the cheap metal

there is no way I am paying £800. I was thinking i wouldnt mind paying £200 is a decent figure for both rear inner arches.
