Rusty bracket/clip on rear brakes

On my newly aquired 04 E320CDI I've noticed that there is some rust on the rear brakes. On the brake caliper is fitted what looks like a retaining clip which presumably retains the pads in the caliper. It's made of thin sheet steel and has gone rusty. A minor blemish but already getting on my nerves. Anyone else got this? Would seem to be an easily replaceable part (unless you needed to buy the whole caliper assembly!) surely?
Other than that I just LOVE the E320CDI! I'd had my previous car, 2000 E240, for 5+ years and 90k miles but the E320CDI is totally GORGEOUS.

You mean the anti rattle plates, I too hate rusty things so I did mine Sunday.
Hammerite silver works well, you can see the clip its on the back.

Mine aren't quite like that but anti-rattle plates seems right. Silver Hammerite looks good so I'll give it a go.
Thanks.

Well in the hand book it says "do not use metal valve caps" what did I have, yes you are right.MB metal caps, all corroded on, the first one broke (picture) so I cut the others off with a hacksaw. Went to MB today and asked how much, the guy came back with this little valve and sender, £100 + vat, but we will give you 10% so I bought the thing, and I will get it fitted when I refurbish the wheels, thats when the rear tyres are worn out (25 more wheel spins) The pressure monitors are built into the car, I could do without it. when I tried my spare wheels, the chime goes off every few miles, "check pressure, dong, check pressure" so I will keep them. I do have my nice MB white caps, but on the one in the picture there is nothing to screw it to, cant even blow it up.

maybe we are becoming sidetracked form the original post, but how long have those metal caps been on to cause that amount damage. The valves on my w220 are mint and they have metal caps on, must be in the metal?

They are alli on the senders, and this only applies to auto pressures, normal ones are brass
