Looking for some advice....

13 months ago, I bought the "car of my dreams" which was a 2003 E220cdi Elegance.

13 months later I still love the car but have a few annoyances.

-not enough power

-no integrated bluetooth phone / satnav

- surprisingly little rear leg room (I have drivers seat quite far back).

I am considering changing it, simply for a newer E Class (maybe a 270/280) with the toys that I desire (there are hundreds of 05/06 examples to choose from), or my local dealer has an 05 SClass 320Cdi which has only 22K miles.

My problem is that quite frankly I have heard some horror stories about the s-class - my work colleague bought one, and 02 320 petrol, and it was in the garage every week for the first 3 months.

My belief is that the build quality towards the end of its life is far better than the early stuff. I would be interested in hearing other s-class drivers opinions.

I hope its good, cos the alternative is a RR 3.0 TD6 Vogue....

2003 onwards are a lot more reliable, think there were approx 150 updates to model. Am sure somebody more knowledgeable will reply with the details.

As per Duraman, 2003 onwards had a lot of improvements. As with any S class, keep it well maintained. If you are looking at 2005 model it will still be under warranty.
Great cars all the same and I am sure you will enjoy it.

If you get an E class it should be after March 04 to have the Nano paint, and certainly be after the 30-09-03 to be clear of the Valeo issue
