S Class iPod Install

I'm the proud owner of a 1997 S 500 Coupe. I love the car and still consider it newish, as it only has 34,000 miles on it. The only thing I would change about my sweetheart is the stereo set up. I'd love to put a COMAND unit into the Dash, and I've read of several easy ways to install. Finding a unit is difficult however. If anyone knows of a good place to purchase one, please let me know.

The other thing I want in my stereo setup is good line-level audio from my Apple iPod. I'm searching around for ways to do this, but the only good lead I have is to get an Apline Head unit with iPod control. I'd much rather use MB procuts to keep the look clean.

I've started a website to chronicle my install. I'm also listing a lot of different information about Benz audio mods and upgrades, as well as interesting Benz installs.

do you have the CD changer? if not - then why not use the line in of the CD changer as the line in of the ipod?

I am also trying to connect my ipod to our 04 CLK Cab and a 05 SL 500. both cars have CD changers and GPS.

Wow That's what I call a speedy reply.

In the U.S. In most major cities. the ipod transmitter doesn't work very well, as there are to many FM stations. I have one and have had very poor results.

We lived in Richmond upon Thames right at Richmond Bridge for about 6 months. While there I primarily listened to my CDs. and had little exposure to the radio.

Any other thoughts?
