I've just taken delivery of an S320 CD1L. Everything is fine and its just a matter of famiarisation after changing up from my previous E Class. Only a couple of settings that I cannot seem to get to ( not really important but thought I'd ask if any knows ). I'm trying to change the outside temperature from celcius to fahrenheit also the tyre pressure monitor from bars to psi.
This was possible on my previous E Class but doesnt seem to be an option on the S class.

Anyone with an S Class out there know the answer ?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.

It helps if you put the age and model in your signature. Is this the new S (221 series) or the previous model (220 series)?

Mine is December 2005 220 series and you change from Metric to imperial in the settings menu.

The car is a W221 and only one week old.

Television

Living in the past has nothing to do with it. My recent EClass had these settings so I would expect the S to have the same.

If you have tried settings (just scroll through the pages via the steering wheel) and had no joy I would pop in to the dealer when next you are nearby and ask them to show you. Mine is very helpful like that -hope yours is too.

Or if nobody here has the new S class yet to help you try the merc hotline
Phone Nr: 00800 1 777 7777
or e-mailto: CustomerService.UK@cac.daimlerchrysler.com

Hope you'll give us a new owner's view when you've time.

Thanks for that but I've tried and the setting is not there. Mercedes have even gone through the a manual and sat in another car to try to find the setting. I'm impressed that they are doing this for something so trivial. Their opinion is that it has been phased out on the the S and also new E classes.

I will revert with how I find the new car. Its very frustrating having taken delivery last Saturday but having it sitting on my drive as I was working all week and the evenings were a little to foggy to get used to the car. I did use it once briefly in the fog and found that Night View Assist very good as it cut right through it.

Will return a review in the near future.

Sadly for you the world moves forward. Your E Class had a E on the back, you have not got that now ? you have an S. They only cost £4 from MB so thats something you can do to get back.

Why not learn the new system. 3.2 bar is hardly difficult to remember. What do you do if you venture abroad, you do not have the choice, there only Bar's and C. with C if the thermometer says 22c thats warm enough to be in shirt sleeves with no wind. 30c is too hot and 0c is when it gets slippery under foot.

Hope this helps a little. Malcolm

Glad your dealer is being helpful. Looking forward to your review when the weather improves.

It does seem strange MB alienating people for the sake of a couple of lines of code - maybe it can be set using Star Diagnose?

Have they taken long wave off the wireless too? ;)

Thank you, for the complement, I do not think that I do too badly either in modern technology, I think that I am as up to date as anyone else here on this forum.

I was not being nasty towards you, I just fail to understand the significance of your first complaint about the car, and the fuss that you make about it.
Price tickets in shops no longer display both kilo's and lbs, if you know the relationship between the dual measuring systems, does it really matter. using only one system makes life far less complicated leaving no room for error.

Do have a nice Christmass.

I came to this forum to ask a simple question and not to be talked down to.
Some of us have to work early on Christmas Eve so I dont really need your type of comments as well. I think I already have "life" which leaves little time to bandy insults with the likes of yourself and Television. Now that I have the answer to my original question from another source I have no need for your comments any more.

To everyone else who provided helpful responses thank you and have a nice Xmas.

If you think that the above practical posting by me was offensive what hope do we have.

You have chosen a very nice car and I do hope that you enjoy it as much as most of us here enjoy our cars.

I think you should play with the steering wheel buttons as this car is sold to the states and they use 'F' and inches for that matter. Use the one which looks like a open book and when get into it use the arrows to scroll through that part of it, to be fair it's not straight forward, but hey it's german.

Malcolm,

I think you're wasting your time here.

Ignoring the fact that why would you want to use ancient units of measure the man claims to have bought a new car then not used it cos he is busy and the weather is foggy, he also got the model name wrong. I for one would use my S class in the fog because its the safest car to drive under any circumstances. Finally most S class owners are busy, thats how we afford to buy them in the first place!

I suspect that the good people at MB have already realised the caliber of client they have on this occasion.
