Hi chaps. I am absolutely crap with auto electrics, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The heater blower fuse on my 1994 s124 e220 keeps blowing. The plastic bit actually melts on the bottom where it seats into the connection. It’s not just the fusible link blowing.
Any suggestions on where to look first.
Cheers

Has the fan seized up? When they do they can draw sufficient current to blow fuses. Fix what’s taking the fuse out, don‘t replace the fuse with a higher rated one or you could end up with a fire…

No the fan hasn’t seized, it was blinking lovely and warm in it yesterday, then typically the other half drives it and inevitably something breaks as per. It does have a habit of blowing the heater fuse but not normally so quickly

When the fuse blows, is there anything else in the car that stops working..?

maybe the fan has now failed if it melts the plastic connector to the fan.

They are straightforward to replace and not overly expensive (a bit more if you have the 2 mouse wheel version). I replaced one my W124 many years ago with an aftermarket one (ECP) it was a 1/4 price as a MB one.
