I have a reversing light out and Ned to replace the bulb. My handbook advises me to take t to a Mercedes workshop, Typical. Is there an easy way to get to them as I would like to replace both bulbs with LED ones.

If the E estate is anything like my C estate, access to the rear lights is by opening the appropriate rear side hide-away and then unclipping the top and bottom of the bulb holder and pulling it out so you can get to the bulbs. Replacing the reversing bulbs with LED projectors makes a big difference, I did ours quite some time ago, I also replaced most of the rest with LED, but not the indicators as for those you need an indicator relay that is LED compatible.

These lights are inside the opening tailgate. No easy access

From recollection there is only one way to get to the back of the tailgate light units which is by popping the trim shouldn’t be too difficult with a prising tool
