Pretty sure I am going to need to replace front and rear pads and discs. I am doing about 6K miles a year with a lot of short journeys and a few cross country trips “at speed”! Can anyone recommend replacements for factory items? This will be third set in only 66K miles and I find brake pedal gets a bit spongy when driving where a lot of braking is required. I want a set that wilo cope with repeated heavy braking but still ok when nipping to the shops. Many thanks in advance

Spongy pedal is usually a sign the brake fluid requires changing

I'd go with MB discs and pads - call Mercedes Grangemouth - they do forum discount and you'll get exactly the right brakes for the car - Mercedes Newcastle on Ebay are another good source

Thanks for that, appreciated. It has full MB service history but last time it was nearly a grand for front and back and I felt I was robbed but i was too busy with work to argue. This time getting some advice before the call!

You’ll generally find that if a MB dealer has them on the shelf they will offer a discount if you ask. You don’t have the sport model so the discs and pads should be a bit cheaper from them, aftermarket is a bit of a lottery nowadays I find.

These are the Sport brakes to give you an idea on price

use the contact option to talk to MB Newcastle and give them your reg or VIN

is this the 3rd set of pads and disks????

All done by a MB dealer?

Robbing stewards. I would think at 66k you might be on second set of disks and pads.

Its not uncommon for dealers to "recomend" pad and disk changes and shall we do the rears too.

MB genuine, use any other garage to do the job at 1/2 the price of MB and you supply the parts.

I had my 212 E350CDI front discs & pads changed last year at my local trusted garage at 59,000 miles.
Cost £240, its the first disc change.

This will be the third set from new, so first replacement at about 35k miles.

Wow firs disc change at 59k miles.

@wilf1227 hey! Nice to see another S212 E350 CGI on here.. I thought I was the only one.

FWIW I have pagid disc and pads on all around. Bought online for around £280 back in 2020. I have no reason to fault them (although not check pad wear).

Discs are still seem true, too :)
