S212 Android 12.3" Installed

Hello peeps.

Have spent the afternoon getting this installed in our S212, (hello Malcolm!). Replaces the factory screen. NTG 4.5.

Pretty straightforward, nothing broken so far and the basic set up is done. Very much still a work in progress & in testing mode! If there's interest I'll happily share more.

Not too bright at night in dark mode. Adding a 4G SIM makes it come alive !

Thanks Malcolm. Yes, zero issues with the S212, all I've done was change the oil and replace the tyres, returning 36mpg on average which is better than my previous A6 Quattro. Hope your E53 is the same, lovely car that too. Cheers, John.

Pleased it’s giving good service the 212 is probably one of the most reliable and well built cars MB have produced in recent times.

Re the E53 I haven’t had chance to drive it much this year but I’m very happy with it mpg is no where near what you’re getting but that was to be expected. The IL6 M256 is a gem with a lovely power delivery I hope it will be as reliable as the 212 I do miss not being able to change the oil myself though (no dipstick)

I tried these screens twice, two different units.
Couldn't get on with it. Too many examples of the low rent parts./cracked software!
Also the screen was solid at first but soon started vibrating on anything other than smooth roads. Tightening the mounting screws didn't solve it. Mounting just isn't up to the job long term. I ended up jamming packing under the front edge of the screen to stop it.
Android auto was the revelation for me, along with Google assistant, it changes the game.

I hope you have more luck than I did.

The system starting up with "loading phone software" did my head in.
