S212 - E350 INTERMITTENT NO GEAR SELECT - STALK TYPE

I wonder if any members have had this fault. ? Occasionally on Start up, the Gear Select Stalk does not work, a quick switch off and back on and control re-established.
It is getting more regular, once or twice a week. My 1st thoughts are Low Battery? A previous S211 had all sorts of strange symptoms until I changed the Main battery. As the car approaches 10 Year old, it may need One or both batteries replaced. Before I splash out on two batteries I wondered which one (if any) is more likely to be culprit.
Or can anyone suggest anything else that may be causing this blip.

If you have them, have you tried putting the car in gear via the paddle-shift?

I have paddle shift. I will try that the next time it happens, did not do it at all this weekend.

Hi Everything looks normal, just the gear does not select. I have had the Blanked out indicator on my SLK230. On the E class this weekend, it did not happen at all.
