I have an S280 1994/5 the remote central locking, reverse park assist(two metal rods from the boot!) and auto boot handle has stopped working, I think it might have something to do with the compresser under the back seat because with the seat raised I cannot hear any noise coming from it. I wondered if there might be a fuse either on the compresser or maybe in the boot! Help Please!! :(

Hi

I think you both may be looking in the wrong place. There is another pump in the boot. Suggest looking behind the side covers. Can't remember which side.

Then try pulling the feed plug of for a few minutes and see if it cures the problem. Its almost ceratin if it does. It will happen again & will need a new pump.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Andy/Tricia,
Sorted my problem. The pump on the end of the motor had broken up so even though the pump was running ... nothing. I superglued it to prove the point and now have locking on two front doors but not enough grunt to do the rest. Problem now is can I buy just the pump.

Vacum Pumps

On the 140 body cars there are two. One resides under the passenger rear seat and provides pressure/vacum for the lock unlock function. It also provides for lumbar, backup assist rods, headrests, if you dont have electric seats, supplemental vacum for the HVAC system and the trunk handle. The pump over the rear wheel, next to the gas tank helps close the doors and trunk (boot). If you pull the fuses it might work for a while, but sooner or later it will fail.
The pump under the seat (lock unlock etc) does not fail as often!
