s320 (1999) wierd noise!!

few days ago i noticed a strange noise from the engine few minutes after starting it up.its quite loud and has never happened before.
its kind of like a burbling noise - fan spinning, it doesn't sound healthy.

is this a common problem - what are the first things to check for?
