Hi all,

My heater in my 2000 S320 CDI has packed up altogether.

I took it to my merc service centre, and it came up with no fault diagnosis codes, suggesting a problem with the heater blower and/or the blower regulator. The guy in the garage told me that he would have to replace both parts to recify the fault (cost (with labour) - about 900 GBP).

I since found out that the car hadn't been in for a recall regarding a problem with water leaking through the air inlet into the area where the motor and regulator are situated (I am the second owner of this car).

I took the car to the Merc dealer to have this mod done, free of charge, and no questions asked. The service manager however is adamant that the recall had nothing to do with the problem I suffered with.

I would appreciate any help in either locating the spares at a more reasonable price than the Merc dealer, or advice on where I stand regarding the recall issue.

Many thanks in advance, and the very best to you all

is i recall i think your service guy may be correct, the plenum chamber filling with water caused water to enter the footwell and faults with electrcal items.

I dont think the heater was affected.

i may be wrong google or search other forums it will all be there.

w.r.t the recall issue, call DCUK and ask them, you need to fax them a V5 before they give you any info mind.

all the best
