S320 remote controller and rear view mirror unit

I bought a 1997 W140 few months ago,recently found that my remote controller for the car door seem only works if I point to the dead close to the rear view mirror , I was wondering anyone knows what is wrong with my unit?

Also,I found that when I try to locked the door with the remote controller,I didnot get the red blinking light on the the rear view mirror,when I unlock the door ,I get the green blinking light,anyone can tell how to change the bulb?

Hi there,
Its sounds like the batteries in your remote are low. the central locking reciver is in the mirror, hence having to point it close to the mirror.

The leds in the mirror used to be able to be replaced seperate, but i think now a dealer will try to get you to replace the complete mirror. you might be able to get the leds from a specialist, but i wouldnt know where, i am sure someone eles on here could point you in the right direction
