Hello guys. I bought an S320 - X reg 3 days back. It has a complete MBSH - 85010 Miles on the clock and has 4000 Miles to a B service. Can someone please kindly direct me into the right way with my questions:

1-) What is a B service (what all gets changed) and how much does it cost from Mercedes Benz Directly.

2-) Is there a Merc Specialist in Manchester or around (someone good to recommend) if it save a few 100 quids

3-) While i was driving the car from Kent to Manchester, the car showed me a sign on the display cluster - " Add 1 Litre Oil ", so I stopped over at the motorway service station and added, castrol 10w/40 litre. Now the car shows me that its 4800 Miles to service. Is everything ok with it. Also, what oil is recommended for under 100000 Miles and over 100000 (i mean 10/40 or 15/40, whats the difference in them)

4-) On the front drivers - wheel arch, i can sense some bubbling, might be rust in the future. I have heard that MB have a 13 year rust proof warranty or so. Is that right.. Can i do something about it with MB.

Thanks in advance guys

A few things that I might be able to help with:

The Mercedes Warranty - Enquire at your dealership. You might be eligable but there is a big hoo-har about what is and isn't covered and so on. There are issues with the metal and paintwork on these vehicles.

Now, the oil, I BELIEVE the higher end cars have an oil viscosity sensor on them, can't be 100% sure, but it works on the viscosity of the oil to tell you how long before you need your next service. This would explain why your service interval went up by 800 miles if you added 1l of clean, fresh oil.

Someone else on here will be able to further explain the 30 year warranty, it's a little sketchy in my mind but there are strict rules on what they'll do and what they'll do for "GOOD WILL".

Stu.

If you search up "S Class 30 Year Warranty" on here, people will have spoken time and time again as dealers will do the whole works for one person, but not another.

(Shame there was no 30 yr warranty on my old W124 E Class, that thing would benefit completely from a good bit of TLC at a dealer!)

Oh, don't be tempted to touch the rust or paint work up. One user did this or had it done so I believe, and it invalidated the warranty completely and at the moment the dealership are refusing to do the work due to the thickness of the paint that was applied.

As said, someone else will be along shortly to correct me where I've possibly gone wrong.

That is correct on the reading when you add new oil, do take car on the oil that you put in, making sure that it meets spec 229.5 on the spec label

You do need to have the service done at a MB garage before MB will entertain any rust claim, even then it could be said that you bought the car knowingly

Good Evening All, the question asked "what get change " at the servicing was a very good question. At the back of your service book you list for ServiceA and ServiceB what get change I did not realise this until after I have paid £800 pounds for servicing my car and it get pointed out to me apprently what should have cost me £100 to £150 end up costing me that much.
hope this help
