S500 - Airmatic failure

Has anyone had any problems with the airmatic failing on a 'S' class.
The car is at its lowest point - and the error message is 'Car too low - STOP'
I have it in at my local dealer, they are looking at it tomorrow - was just hoping if anyone can shed any light.
Thank God the problem occured today - My signature warranty expires tomorrow.

Hi

It needs to be fault code read. The main problems with airmatics is the actual pump. I am lead to believe that the pump has a limited life & is a servicable item. By that I mean. It is not made to last the life of the vehicle.

as Andy said the pump is probably shot especialy if it is an older car, the thing to be aware of is don't drive the vehicle while there is no air in the system as this damages the struts and can lead to massive repair bills 2K
