Received the Safety Recall 1827 in the post from MB. Leaking Steering Damper can caused under bonnet fire.
Seems to effect 1996 W210 cars.
There was similiar to the earlier, May 2001 recall for late W124 cars.
Does anyone know where the steering damper is located? Is it external to the rack.?
The fault is believed to be an under torqued screw.

Safety Recall 1827

The damper connects from the rack to the body and looks like a shock absorber
