Dear All,
I notice lately that the rear end of my 200E-W124 is sagging a little. Could it be that the coil springs need replacement?

Thanks,
Vronsky.

Andy,
Car has standard coils now. Wouldn't mind replacing them with springs that are higher than the standard ones. Like it when the rear end points up a little... Stiffness is okay as it is. Are 'higher ones available?
Also, do I need to replace the shocks aswell when changing the coils?

Many thanks.

As Andy will probably suggest

You can buy thicker or thinner spring seat pads from your local stealership allowing for around 15mm lowering or raising  (dependant on what ones you have fitted now)

You could fit New MB springs to the rear with thickest spring pads available and replace the front spring pads with the thinnest available.... if you want that front down look...

I'm not even gona suggest other Quality German makes of springs as Andy Dosen't like em..... I spose he should know really....

You still need new springs for the rear
But if you want to create the nose down look it can be done by changing the spring pads..

Personnaly I would replace all 4 springs with a set of uprated ones from Eibach
(lowers the car between 20-35 mm dependant on what set you buy)

Put number 1 (thin)spring pads on the front and number 4 (thick) spring pads on the rear
(to give you a slightly nose down look)

And replace the shocks with Bilstein shocks.....

but that little lot will cost some dosh....

Hi

MB don't do the dragster look. But if you insist try fitting the rear springs from the heavier vehicle like a 260 or 300e. Think that should do the trick. If you like the more subtle approach then use White's suggestion. It should be noted that they adjust the height by 4mm depending on which rubbers you have fitted already.

You can check them by looking at the circumference of the rubber there are a number of pips moulded onto the edge. On the rear I think they start from 1-3 I may be wrong and they go upto to 4. But there you have it.

Good luck.
