I have been told the rear springs on my 1987 W107 300SL look a bit low. I assume the test is to measure from ground to wheel arch. Can anyone advise this measurement. Also, is that with full or empty fuel tank.
Mine is between 57.5 and 58cm, measured from ground to bottom edge of rear wheel arch, in a line with the centre of the wheel. This is with a full tank and fairly new tyres (standard 205/65x15).
It is parked on a slight slope, facing uphill, so that will depress the rear end a little.
I've not been able to find a spec for this dimension - only for ground clearance under specific load conditions, and it did not say at what point on the vehicle.
Does the car look low to you!!! Compare it with others. If you decide it is then replace the springs. But DONT fit non genuine springs. Fit the stealerships everytime. Otherwise you will be doing the job twice.
