If i wanted a 2007/08 sat nav disc for my Mercedes can I buy any or do only certain discs work in certain systems fitted to certain cars?

I did this recently. Moved from v3 to v8. v8 comes with the firmware upgrade to enable it to read the up to date information. Works well. Probably idiot proof. There are subtle improvements.

as above. Alfie will advise you on the correct disc. It will provide the Firmware and current maps. Cost is a bit less than a new TomTom or Garmin, but not much.

Firmware loads easily when you first insert it, then it all flows along from there.

No you need Tele Atlas DX. You can buy direct from Tele Atlas, online retailer like Comand Online or ebay.
