Sat Nav DVD

I bought a new ML 320 CDI in March 07 with 7" Sat Nav.It came with version 6 of the DVD. It works OK, the usual acceptable mistakes we expect with Sat Nav except in Barcelona. According to local Merc dealers there is a problem with the DVD and any time you plan a route the goes via a certain roundabout on Diagonal (which is most trips leaving the city) the DVD had this roundabout as a car park. The system crashes, the screen goes black and you have to wait a couple of minutes for the system to boot up again. Apparently Mercs in Germany know of this and version 9 (what happened to Version 7 & 8?) corrects this. I went to my local dealer in Marbella, Spain requesting the new DVD as it was due out this month. Of course they know nothing about the Barcelona problems, it seems Mercs are keeping quiet about this as I guess they don't want to have to give away version 9 when they can charge for it. Anyway, it seems that the 2 year warranty I have will not cover a DVD that crashes in Barcelona.
Any comments?

Interesting. I hadnt heard of this myself.

Version history (recent) is

V6.1, V6.2, V6.3, V8, V9 for the A/B/C/CLK/ML/GL/R series

V5, v5.1, V7 for the E/CLS etc

The two are not interchangeable between models.

I have Version 6.3, V7, V8 and v9 in stock although we are not selling V9 yet.

So why do Mercs supply new cars with old DVD's? My car isn't 6 months old and you're telling me there was Version 7 & 8 and now 9. When do you start selling V9?

They use up old stock first. not sure when we will release V9 for sale. We have a few V8's to shift first

Well here is the update. My Mercedes has been into the dealer to have the software checked - no problem it's all fine. The problem in clearly the DVD and to get this fixed I have to layout somewhere between 250 and 350 euros to get version 9. So much for Mercedes warranty!

Thats a very good price actually!

I do think though they should fix it for free for any customers in Spain.
