Just bought my first Merc a 2003 E320 CDI,can anyone help with the sat nav, I need to find the latest version of the european CD,best place to buy etc.

Assuming your car is the current W211 shape, then you need version 5.1 of the software. This is the latest for your car. Do not be tempted by 6.1, 6.2 or 6.3 these will not work in your car.

The best (by this I mean most reliable) place to get this is from your local dealer but it wont be cheap. Most probably £200 or more. You can try eBay but if you do make sure the seller guarantees the disk is an original and not a copy.

I can supply other disks such as 6.1,6.2 and 6.3 or the Teleatlas DX disks for Comand 2. Sadly I dont deal in the disks for the W211 E class.

These are now at least 1 year old. V5 came out in December 2005 and V5.1 in Spring 2006. No one really knows for sure what the difference is between these two but MB was giving a free replacement of V5.1 for those people who purchased a V5. I have used both and the only difference I found was updated POI details for MB dealers.

The big advantage of the V5 above V4 is the TMC functionality which is only available with V5 or V5.1.

If you are going to buy brand new from a MB dealer I would be tempted to wait as there should be a new release soon.

What version do you currently have?

Would this v5.1 version work in my W211? It's an APS50 not COMAND.
Or would I need something different?

The disk versions I refer to are for COMAND APS.

I believe APS50 disks are completley different and the 2 systems are non compatible

My Comand APS is V3.0 I have been thinking of updating it.
The reason I have not bothered is because this verse as yet has not let me down (touch wood).
