Sat Nav map update

Hi everyone
Looking for some help with updating sat nav
I have 2018 c350e with sat nav but when I look at map version it's 2018 v14 and was wondering if this is updated by SD, there is a SD slot in the central storage box between front seats, didn't get a SD card when I bought the car secondhand. If this can be updated by SD will one from ebay work ?

Mine is a ‘Premium’ so just needed new SD card. Cheap as chips on Fleabay. Paid £24.95, all works just fine

You have the comand system that can be updated at the dealership for around £120 will take them most of the day as they plug it in and let it download, there may be another way to do it if you contact https://www.commandonline.co.uk/

On the whole COMAND works OK, but when I had mine updated a couple of years back 'she' still seemed to be unaware of some major road improvements eg the M6 just north of Lancaster going towards Morecambe. It's a lot of money for an update of something that doesn't do live traffic. You're better off using WAZE on your phone.

I stand corrected ..... Mine doesn't though it does have an option of 'dynamic' when directing you to somewhere which is supposed to be live traffic. Maybe it's just me .... ???
Still expensive though ... my update was about £130 though the supplying dealer (eventually) paid for it

I asked for the 2022 update (but not released as yet) and they said around £100 with club discount, the live option is an optional purchase via the Mercedes’ me App Store. It comes free for the first 3 years then it’s a renewable option

I was hoping that I could update with a eBay SD card as you can get the latest one for about £24

I have only had the car for about 4 weeks, took out mercedes service pack got a little shock at £56 per month, put it in for service last week and got a bill for £670, needed rear pads & discs, new wiper blades and as it had no record of air con being serviced that had to get done also, the one that got me was £56 for wiper blades, hope they are made of gold lol

I took my car back to Mercedes shortly after I'd bought it to get a key fob sorted. They did their usual upsell/health check and quoted me £550 for new front discs & pads despite the fact that I'd only bought the car less than 1000 miles previously from a different dealer after they had apparently also done a gazillion point health check. After complaining to Mercedes UK the supplying dealer contacted me & he paid for the COMAND update to placate me.
The discs are still on the car 3 years later ..... though the pads have been replaced.

Discs seem to a Mercedes favourite and justify it by using the safety card.

I bought mine from a non-Mercedes dealer, but it had a full Mercedes service history as they had it printed out on paper, I am talking to the dealer that I bought it from as they told me that it had been serviced prior to me buying it but I don't hold out much hope of getting anything back from them, you live and learn I suppose.

I personally use it a lot but there is different functions on Mercedes me depending on your vehicle so you can pick and choose what’s relevant to you, my service plan with Mercedes is £40 a month on a 2 year 2 service plan

My 2011 E350CDI still has the original maps I was not paying £100 a years to update, which would be near £1,000 in total now.
I use Waze better mapping, free, speed cameras, faster, & very good live traffic.
I have a 3 year service package bought 2 years ago with 20% discount at £1,100. Thats two B services, one A service, & an auto gearbox oil change.

Is your SD slot in the central arm rest storage box and if so did you just pop in the SD card and the nav read it ??

Yes it is. As you say I just replaced the old SD card with the one I acquired on Fleabay and the SatNav read it.
