Hi guys, I’m in the Uk. I have just bought a 2013 e250 and come to use the satellite nav system for the 1st time and realise how out of date it is! Does anyone know how to do this before I have to go to a dealership??
Thanks in advance

I have the same dilemma with the 2012 Viano I bought a few months ago. Initially I mistakenly thought they were up to date but now realise they are same version date as the vehicle. I have the Command 2.5 unit.

In truth the Google maps on my phone are better than the in-car unit will ever be as they are constantly updated and I love the 3D real world view compared to the very blocky line drawing of the car's unit.

I have considered getting the car unit updated just once so it is more recent though. I understand the dealer's are £100+ but the most reliable way. There are discs on Ebay but these are often already out of date and I understand it's possible to black screen your unit when trying to DIY update.

However others will know better than I do so I await their input with interest.

post a pic up on the comand but I say its a NTG 2.5 comand.

Last disk is v16 (2019) no longer updated by MB.

the disks are circa 100 bucks and you use them to update the HD then they are ejected. I have mine after a last update if you are interested but cant post till late Nov when back in UK.

look at comandonline

I really like your 60s wristwatch style clock!

Yes I guess mine would be similar to the Vito one but with the NAV added. In the VIN decoder my unit was an expensive extra.

Yes the clock is great and the clocks changed here in the Uk and it automatically updates which I was impressed with, just read your post on silver polish for the screen so will definitely be doing that, I assume you don’t know which command centre this is then??

You have NTG 4.5 Comand in your car. The latest map is 2019 V19.0.
You can bring up the map version you have using the Comand menu.
The main dealer will update your map from £99. The map can be downloaded from the internet but you need to buy a Map Pin Code for it to work.

If you have your car serviced at the main dealer, wait for the service to update the map as you'll probably be charged more than £99 for just a map update. The car will tie up a bay in the workshop for some time whilst its being done, hence leaving it until a service is due.

Comand Online in Lightwater can also supply you with the Pin and map update.

I'm not all that far from you so could drive up to update it if your offer stands?

note a map update is just that (Maps),

the rest of the system will have bug fixes and security patches, that were never applied - and these are dealer plug in and update only.

Often worth doing but its never done... and depending upon a number of things, like hardware at build and age of a specific vehicle, features such as BT music streaming might be enabled and if you have DAB, it might even have a DAB+ tuner that was never enabled. And here if it does, it needs the logic rethink programming for >99 channels

comandonline, can do both the software/firmware programming update and the maps - but not great if miles away...

if a stealer make sure you agree exactly what work and what the price is... £200 would be a bargain for both bits... 600 if u let them wash it and rob as per book pricing

if its a tractor there could be other engine related updates (they should be doing - that's a much bigger minefield of fun) note ALL brands of cars need these updates no one ever bothers...

Not sure on this model but a lot of later ones need a kick to get the clock to function correctly. a WNRO satellite event from April 2019 breaks many devices, after the satellites all rolled back to year 0 and your car then was expecting 2019 (the older satellites run on a simple 19 years calendar) GPS week number rollover - Wikipedia
