Hi guys looking to upgrade my existing media player to the sat nav version does the Merc come with pre installed wiring or is it a lot off hassle to fit thanks

At a guess no.
I am not impressed with MB sat navs slow to calculate & update, live traffic is very slow, no camera warning, & over £100 a year for map updates.
I use a TomTom 5200 Live in the E350 which cost me £200 with free live traffic & map updates.
In the SLC I use Waze on Apple Play, again free except a small amount of data.

If you go for the same system that could have been specified at build time then yes the installation is very very straightforward.

Carefully said Alfie, no mention of the damage it would do to his wallet let alone the discrepancy in capability between MB's expensive and rather old fashioned satnav (Comand) system compared to a modern Pioneer (?Android) or Chinese unit!!

So there are android models compatible but can you still use the controlls on the steering wheel?

Yes there are units that allow that, search on here and MBOA for threads about replacing original MB Comand with other types - also talk to comand.co.uk (@Alfie) about what they can offer/supply/fit, they're a couple of miles from J3 M3 and are not only MB ICE experts but also Unique Cars Sounds (https://www.uniquecarsound.com/), ICE suppliers and fitters. Have your VIN handy so they can look up the build sheet for your car.
