Hiya,
I have one of the S320 (2002 model) with the factory fitted command system. And that's the only sat nav I've ever used. I hadn't compared it against any other systems until a few days ago when a friend of mine turned up with a basic model of the Tomtom device.
What really confuses me is how come a basic Tomtom is million miles more user friendly than the merc's supposedly high-end technology which cost many times more. My Command does not allow full post-code input, let alone house numbers. For example, if I'm going to a place with a post code WD20 1LA, I'm only allowed to key in WD20_1, then I have to manually put in the actual street name. House number function is simply non-existent.
By the way, the disc I use is from Merc itself last year, the 2005 version.
Can anyone shed some light on this and maybe point me to the right direction on an upgrade? Is there any alternative software to buy or do I have to put up with Merc's own?
Many thanks
Tony Tup
