Hello , I have a 2012 E class cabriolet. It does not have a navi button on the dashboard, but today I turned the radio off and then back on and the sat nav came up on my screen for the first time. How ??? How do I get it back on ?

Sounds like you have the retrofit Navigation 20. Try pressing and holding the ‘C’ button next to the rotary wheel in the centre of the seats.

So do you have the Becker Map Pilot box in the glove compartment? Its on the side closest to the centre console.

Usually the pre-wiring was only fitted to those which have the NAVI button. If you have this, it would suggest that the CD unit / panel has been replaced with one that doesn't have the button or it was wired post installation.

The data card will tell you if it is officially in the car.

Pressing the button on the scroll wheel should allow you to scroll through to select NAV if it is there.

I had Navigation 20 retrofitted on my C207 so that’s why I recognised it!

The last map update was 2015/16 as Mercedes no longer support the system but Comand Online still supply them at £199!

The system was originally called “Universal Media Interface” and you can download a copy of the manual from this link:

It was later relaunched as “Navigation 20” but I think there was very little difference from UMI so the manual will give you all the info you need.
