I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help me with reagrding a CL500 (2001) ....

1 Sat Nav - can I upgrade the Sat Nav to search for postcodes etc by just buying a new disc? If so what type?

2 The console cradle for the mobile (to work thru steering wheel / command) is for a Nokia 6210/6310. I have an old handset (6310) and sometimes the screen says phone initialising please wait (but nothing ever happens) or tel error phone not plugged in ....

I have read a couple of threads about getting the control box under the rear seat changed. Also when I plug the phone in it sometimes seems to lose any reception - does this mean the internal aerial is being "used" elsewhere?

Could it be compatible for a 6210 but not a 6310?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

I have 2000 S Class and I am sure the set up on CL is the same.

Sat Nav.

Both cars use the CD based system, the 2006 CD DX from TeleAtlas is your best bet. £130 with TMC, and about £90 without, depending on what offer they have on at the time of ordering. Accepts post codes for major cities, and partial post codes in others.

Phone.(copy of previous post)

Dealer checked and said that originally fitted with Nokia 6210, phone missing, but cradle under centre arm rest.

Booked it into the dealers . They tested the control box under the back seat and said it needed replacing, and the tech said that he was pretty sure that if he fitted the 6310i box it would work with either phone, and with the original cradle. Approx cost £200. He wouldn't guarantee all this as according to MB the cradles are not interchangeable (although the fittings look identical). At worse, I would then have to buy a new 6310 cradle.

I went for it, an hour later all fitted and programmed in, he was right, both phones work perfectly, work with the steering wheel controls etc. Cost £220. Much better than bluetooth.
