sbs sprinter light

hi all,
i'm converting my '03 sprinter 316 to a camper van, after removing the passenger bench seats (disconnected the seatbelt lead) i get a SBS error light on the dash. is it possible to reprogramme the ecu to ignore the passenger seats? my girlfriends golf was able to do this when she had a baby and wanted to disable the passenger airbag

This can be done on STAR, though it will turn off all of the air bags and safety devices,,its SRS

the 2 wires that went to the seat belt, do you know if it was just seeing a pure resistance or is there a small mico processor in the seatbelt unit?
