any chance you can get a picture ?

pop the sleeve off (if it will come off) and then turn the spark plugs by hand if they turn clockwise and tighten up then they need to be torqued up if they dont tighten up then their is a problem

it means that the ceramic is cracked and will need replacing as you might be getting a weak spark or a arc when running

Plugs have to be tight?

Mike something funny is going on because all the plugs should not be loose, they do not "push fit" plug the leads back in, check the bolts at the base of the plug, tighten if required and start the car

if the plug ceramic is turning,

but the hexagonal body is not, it's shot to hell. I had some trouble like this a few years ago. Either the plug was faulty and gave up the ghost when fitted, or it was overtorqued when put in and that broke it. Drive gingerly to a good motor factors or parts shop, get a set of plugs, and change the lot.
Your tightening torque will be no more than 25Nm. I suggest you get a good torque wrench as well and use 20Nm as a guide. Or hand tight and an eighth to quarter turn (45-90 degrees).
I gave up on Bosch plugs as a result of this trouble and now only use Beru. NGK are fine as well, but they didn't have any for my motor at the time, and I liked the Beru multi-electrode platinums from GSF. They last a lot longer, so should give you less trouble like this.

The whole plug should be solid from the top to the bottom, the very tip at the top screws off, if it is loose you can tighten it by hand.

If you can turn the ceramic part and the shinny nut part doesn’t move then there is something wrong with the plug but I doubt that is the case.

It seems that the threaded part at the bottom in picture is loose and needs tightening. Try removing the plug, it will take about 15 turns, counter-clockwise, to remove it.

Hi Kbekl.
Thanks for getting back, Yeh you were right , I think i manhandled the HT lead and like you said the porcelain was spinning, checked all others and they are solid, called at Halfords to-day bought a Plug -Key , was able to replace plug with spare same brand plug. Everything ok now.
But thanks for offer of nipping over, Where i live, nobody round here has a Mercedes, so along with this helpful forum, if i get into problems it gives me peace of mind i could possibly get your help.
Thanks again.
Mike.

Good point Cnics.
Can you reccommend a quality set, long life span. But with a fair price tag.
Thanks.
Mike.
