I've read posts about MB wanting to fill your screen wash bottle at great expense during servicing so made sure the bottle was full before it went in.
On reading the service report and bill.. "Screen washer bottle noticed to be over full so part drained and replaced with MB wash. Now less soapy".
Well thank heavens for that, how could I have coped with soapy(?) Halfords own brand screen wash that been fine in every car up until now..

Absolutely unbelievable! How much did they charge for this essential act?

I'm sure certain forum members will say that Merc did absolutely the right thing :)

Put it in a comedy show on TV, everyone would say, nah, that wouldn't happen. :p
Did they sit there, with the wiper held to spray the fluid out ;)

I'm surprised your Mercedes didn't vomit it out :D

I used to get upset about this but I try not to let it worry me now. I took my own oil for the last service so sniggered that the dealer had lost maybe £70 of clear profit by being greedy on the oil price, so I didn't even get in a rage that the total bill was only £90 less than it should have been instead of £100.

Of course, the dealer won't be too worried as they probably kept my lovely oil and didn't even bother to change mine! Plus they make that £70 profit from 99+% of customers anyway.

Ludicrous to say the least.

How much oil do you need for the service on a 220 CDi engine?

I think it's the same as on my 270CDi, which is 6.5L.

Been charged in the past so always make sure bottle is topped right up.
My car was in for a service a couple of weeks ago at the "stealers" and I was not charged and no mention was made even though I had topped the bottle to the "brim".

Why do you put up with this nonsense? I thought warranties etc. couldn't be invalidated anymore by not going to the main stealer?

Dr Zoidberg - if I'd read that on a bill I'd have popped someone. Is money no object?

rust warrentee, and Mobilo life require servicing by an MB authorised service centre I believe. Still not sure it's worth it though. Also very difficult to sell a Merc that hasn't got FMBSH.

Does there not come a point though when you realise that MB is basically taking the p*ss?
I've never been in the position whereby it was sensible for me to buy anything other than an older car so I'm intrigued by this whole ... "yes, I got shafted again but there you go" mentality. Wierd.
