Screen wash and single wipe not triggering please help

Hi everyone, I'm reasonably sure this is an electrical switch issue. On my 56 reg clk a single swipe of the windscreen wipers is activated by pushing the indicator stalk in (push-tap 50%) and then a full push in (100% travel) to activate the screen wash jet and the wipers. Earlier this week both options are NOT triggering. I'm Hoping it does not mean to replace the stalk? I'm wondering if anyone has come across tjis and the solution before. Many thanks in advance for your input. Given the weather I need to sort this sooner rather later.
