having a problem with my E220 CDI (51 reg).

The main screenwasher has decided to stop working, sounds as if the motor is working and when I raise the bonnet the water pumps out into the engine compartment, but when I close the bonnet ... nothing. Both water bottles are full and the headlamp washer system works ok..

Any idea's ??

If the water is pumping out into the engine compartment then thateres your problem - a loose pipe.

If I've misunderstood your description then it may be that the jets are blocked or that the pipe has become trapped when the bonnet is closed.

Usually there's two motors - one for the lights and one for the screen.

I had this on my Landrover recently. Just a dribble from the washers until I opened the bonnet then the worked fine. That was the washer pipe forming a kink by the bonnet hinge. So open the bonnet, straighten the pipe and everything is great. Close the bonnet and it all stopped.
Just a thought.
