Hi!
On our 560SEC the safety belt handover mechanism has suddently stopped working on the driver´s side!! It works on the passenger side though. What to do now, any possible troubleshooting tips? The fuses are OK (checked them twice). The arm doesn´t move at all nor there´s any sound from the motor...
Thanks!!

A few ideas :

- check out the door pin switch (it's usually the lower of the 3 that drives the seatbelt arm. Early 126 cars have 2 pin switches and it's again the lower). It may be corroded not making contact - try swapping pin switches to see if it makes a difference.

- check the seatbelt loom connection under the seat. It's a 2 pin connector that may have come loose or dislodged. Unlikely, but can happen.

- if the above check out fine, then you will have to remove the rear interior panel to access the electrical connections and relay. If you need info on how to remove this panel let me know and I'll write it up.

Thanks a lot Talbir! I´ll try out those things asap. I´ve already got the rear interior panel loose and got a view of the connectors, but haven´t done anything about them or measured them up yet. I´ll let you know how I get on. Thanks again!

Hi,

Just a note, the visible 6-hole connector block is for the window switch only. You will hav to disconnect the wires from this block to move the panel away completely - the wires are color-coded so they're easy to reconnect accurately. Why MB didn't fit a simple plug-in connector here is beyond belief.

You'll also need to remove the seatbelt retaining bolt down at the base, which is usually a 10mm bolt (sometimes 17mm) and then the panel can be removed completely out of the car.

Let us know how you get on.
