So every time i start my car I get that seat belt warning light flash up on the dash for the rear seats - you just have to click ok to remove it, but can I deactivate it, I know it takes a second to click ok, but i never have anything in or on my back seats, for its just annoying ... thanks!

It comes up to show you if any of the rear seats are occupied and if so if any have their belts fastened.

A safety feature added so the driver doesn’t have to turn around to check before shouting at the kids to fasten their belts...

Why does it come up even when no one is in the back?

It goes out in its own after about 5 seconds I think, as above just a safety feature, can’t be deactivated I’m afraid, and it’s actually showing the seats are empty

The picture is different to show the seat occupied or empty. Have someone sit in the back and you’ll see the difference

but it’s still annoying having to press ‘ok’ even when it’s empty.... my previous mercedes only did it if someone got in the back (don’t know how it knows?). It never did it when there wasn’t someone in the back.... I’d like to switch the feature off! Lol

I understand it can become “a thing” but I wish I just had your issues (assuming that’s the worst of them)...:p:D

Pressing the 'return' button on the steering wheel clears it on my car.

Just ignore it .... ;) It seems to be something lots of manufactures fit .... Emily's Yaris has it too which will also alarm if you unplug the rear belt after you've set off :rolleyes::D

A bit of an old thread I know, But I find it very annoying as well. I even put all the belts in their holders and it STILL comes up !!!

As per above it comes up to show which (if any) of the rear belts are being used. Handy if you’ve small passengers that might disconnect or not correctly clip in their belt. As driver you’re legally responsible for children being correctly belted in so the car is giving you a helping hand with that.

Exactly as above. The operator of the car is responsible that occupants are belted up. The operator gets the fines no one else.
