Yesterday car spewed out over half a litre of coolant on the drive - looks like it happened after it was started as I did not notice any coolant running down the drive until I came back. Before this car has never lost any coolant.

I noticed that the plastic underbody panel under the radiator was soaked so presume a faulty radiator or hose. Only trouble is now I've topped it up and driven it I can't seem to get any leak at all from the system at all and so cant diagnose where the leak came from. The system is also pressurising and temp readings all as normal.

When I started the car I gave it a bit of gas as car often isnt very positive at starting when left for a while (car had not been used for 10days), could this have caused the coolant to oveflow and spew out on starting?

Thanks,

Ben

Is your thermostat housing plastic or metal.

I had to replace my plastic one due to hairline cracks around the bolt holes.

Mine leaked from there.

My younger son, who has far better hearing than me heard something from tjhat area when the engine was running - I couldn't hear it.
